A browlift, or forehead lift, is a procedure performed to lessen the presence of wrinkles and creases in the forehead to make patients look more youthful and feel better about their appearance.

While the procedure is most often performed on people between the ages of 40 and 70, it is occasionally sought out by younger individuals who have experienced premature aging.

For utmost results patients can complement a browlift with a facelift, chemical peel, or blepharoplasty, depending on the patent’s goals. Endoscopic browlifts are a minimally invasive procedure that produces noticeable results.

Procedure

A browlift is an outpatient procedure performed under general anesthesia or local anesthesia with sedation, depending on the patient’s preference and overall health. During the browlift procedure, several small cuts are made in the scalp, into which an endoscope and other small surgical instruments are inserted. The forehead skin is then lifted, while excess muscle, fat and skin are removed to give the brow a younger-looking, improved appearance. The surgeon may use temporary sutures or screws to keep the muscle and skin in place throughout the healing process.

Following the surgery, the incisions are closed and the head is fitted with a bandage. Stitches or staples are removed within a week while screws are removed in 2 weeks. The procedure is performed in one to two hours and the patient can return home the same day.
